Course Overview

One of the key challenges of promotion is that new managers are often thrown into a position where they now need to change the working relationships they have enjoyed with those who, until recently, would have been colleagues and friends.  This practical session provides techniques for earning respect and making changes to the relationship without breaking it.

Participants will be able to

  • Make the right choices about behaviour in various situations
  • Be able to absorb the additional demands during the working day
  • Establish a process for sound management of team conduct and performance
  • Understand different types of questions and learn to communicate in an assertive way
  • Minimise the risk of alienating team members by planning discussions
  • Be consistent and use techniques to manage in a way that is comfortable and brings consistency to the teams performance
  • Suitable for those new to management
